And welcome to the PaganFM! almanac for the week of October 12, 2008.
Taking a look at the weather ….
Today is Sunday, October 12, 2008. It’s the 286th day of the year.
It is also the birthday of Aleister Crowley, who was born on this day in 1875.
On Monday, the 13th, the moon will be void of course at 1:02 am, and enters Aries at 3:07 am.
Monday is the day that Columbus Day
is observed in the
It is also the day a number of French Templars were arrested in 1307. Among these was Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. October 13, 1307 was a Friday, and this is believed to be the origins of Fridays, falling on the 13th being unlucky. Demolay was forced to sign a confession saying that as part of his initiation, he had denied Christ and trampled on a cross. He then was compelled to write a letter saying all Templars did the same, which brought about the downfall of the Knights Templar. His name lives on today in the Order of DeMolay which is a fraternal order for young men, sponsored by the Masons.
The full moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon or Blood Moon appears on Tuesday, the 14th at 4:02 pm. Tuesday is also the beginning of the Jewish period of Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles, during which they are instructed to eat in temporary structures with roofs of organic material from the ground, reminding them of their temporary dwellings during the 40 years spent in the desert.
Wednesday sees a void moon at 3:36 am, which enters Taurus at 5:31 am.
On Friday, the 17th, the moon is void at 3:33 am, and enters Gemini at 6:25 am.
Saturday, the 18th is the anniversary of the birth of Nicholas Culpeper. Culpeper was a man of many talents, but his most important contributions were to the art of medicine. As an herbalist, Culpeper eschewed the traditional methods of herbalism which relied on tradition without explanation. Culpeper wished to know why certain herbs were beneficial for certain conditions and thus gave rise to more modern methods of pharmacology.

Prayer Requests
Every Sunday
Time: 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Your own home
Notes: Please answer this request post stating your reason for healing energy
and/or prayers sent your way. Prayer requests can be asked for other than
healing and for other than yourself.
A white candle will be lit for you on Sunday unless you request another color
to be used. This is a group event so the more people involved the better. Feel
free to join sending out energy. Always keep in mind that requests are always
done for the highest good of all concerned. This may mean the outcome may be
different than we hope for. The spiritual healing work we do is designed to
work in harmony with other treatment modalities, not as a subsitute.

Samhain!
All Hallow's Eve Ritual
All Hallow’s
Eve is upon us as the Wheel of the Year winds down. This is a night where we
traditionally honor our ancestors and contemplate the lives of past loved ones.
Come. Join us and honor your loved ones, your ancestors as we learn about Innana, the Queen of Heaven and her journey into the Underworld.
Discover why and how she made the descent down to the Land of the Dead. Find
out how her journey can be interpreted as lesson that teaches us that death is
but a passageway to a new cycle of life. Join us for a powerful, special ritual
of the Wheel of the Year: We will be entering the Darkness - metaphorically and
literally as we work toward balance.
If you are looking for a new home,
come and visit. If you wish to remain solitary yet need a connection with
others or if you simply do not have the energy to celebrate on your own, then
come! You will be welcomed.

Look, as the landscape turns from green to brown
From the color of life to the color of the ground.
The earth, from whence live begins
Reclaims all.
For I, the Earth, am the mother and the undertaker.
I bring life in birth, and take back unto myself in death.
Not love, but purpose brings forth life.
Not retribution, nor destiny brings death.
Purpose brings forth life, purpose brings death,
And once more, purpose returns life.
Rejoice and be glad!
For sadness and despair are but choices.
