Tuesday is also the birthday of Arnold Crowther,
who was a stage magician and Gardnerian Witch. He was
born, October 7, 1909, one of a pair of fraternal twins, to a Scottish mother
and English father, in
Crowther, who was always
interested in sleight of hand and magic, met Gerald Gardner shortly before world war 2.
Eventually, Crowther met Patricia Dawson, who initiated him into the craft. They married in 1960 and became outspoken proponents of the craft.
Prior to his death on Beltane in 1974, Crowther and his wife Patricia authored numerous articles and a radio series. He also produced a number of other books that dealt with such various subjects as stage magic, road safety for children and an autobiography.
