PaganFM! almanac for the week of September 21, 2008
Wx.
It’s Sunday, September 21, 2008. It’s the 265th day of the year.
Monday marks the Autumn Equinox, or
Mabon.
The moon enters the 4th quarter
at 1:04 am, is void of course at 1:04 am, and enters Cancer at 1:48 am.
And, The Sun enters Libra at 11:44
am.
On Tuesday, the moon will be void of course at 5:15 pm and enters Leo on Wednesday at 5:13 am.
Thursday, the 25th, marks the anniversary of the passage of the “Helms Amendment” in 1985. This
Amendment, reading in part: “No funds appropriated under this Act shall be used to grant, maintain, or allow tax exemptions to any cult, organization, or other group that has as a purpose, or that has any interest in, the promoting of satanism or witchcraft: Provided, That for purposes of this section, "satanism" is defined as the worship of Satan or the powers of evil and "witchcraft" is defined as the use of powers derived from evil spirits, the use of sorcery, or the use of supernatural powers with malicious intent.” was attached to the 1986 budget.
In the arguments, Helms posited that Wicca led to illegal and dangerous behavior, equating it to Satanism, and saying that the founding fathers never intended with freedom of religion, to promote cults, witchcraft or Satanism”.
In the end, the amendment was removed from the budget because it was not “appropriate to the bill to which it was attached.”
On Friday, the 26th, the
moon will be void of course at 7:20 am, and enters Virgo at 9:52 am.
On this date in 1645, Joan Wilford was hanged for witchcraft at Faversham
in
Ongoing, weekly:
Prayer Requests
Every Sunday
Time: 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Your own home
Notes: Please answer this request post stating your reason for healing energy
and/or prayers sent your way. Prayer requests can be asked for other than
healing and for other than yourself.
A white candle will be lit for you on Sunday unless you request another color
to be used. This is a group event so the more people involved the better. Feel
free to join sending out energy. Always keep in mind that requests are always
done for the highest good of all concerned. This may mean the outcome may be
different than we hope for. The spiritual healing work we do is designed to
work in harmony with other treatment modalities, not as a subsitute.
