And welcome to the PaganFM Almanac for the week of September 7, 2008.
Today is Sunday, September 7. The moon is currently in Sagittarius, and the 2nd quarter will be at 10:04 am.
On Monday, the moon will be void of course at 12:43 pm, and wil enter Capricorn at 3:34 pm. Monday is also the anniversary of the founding of the Theosophical Society by H. P. Blavatsky, Henry Steele Olcott, among others, on this date in 1875. In 1896, the Theosophical Society published its latest statement of objectives, being:
To form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or color.
To encourage the comparative study of religion, philosophy and science.
To investigate the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in humanity.
On Wednesday, the moon will be void of course at 9:15 am.
Wednesday is also the anniversary of the birth of Carl Llewellyn Weschcke, who was born on September 10, 1930. Carl is the president and owner of Llewellyn Worldwide, which was formerly known as Llewellyn Publications. Llewellyn is probably the most popular publisher of occult literature world-wide.
Thursday, September 11, the moon enters Aquarius at 3:19 am. It is also the birthday of Silver Ravenwolf, who was born on this date in 1956. Ravenwolf is a both a popular, and often maligned author of pagan titles such as “To Ride a Silver Broomstick”, “To Stir a Silver Cauldron”, and “Hedge Witch”, which is the subject of tonight’s review.
On Saturday, the moon will be void of course at 9:19 am, and enters Pisces at 12:04 pm.
Our Upcoming events:
Ongoing, weekly:
Prayer
Requests
Every Sunday from: 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Your own home
You can go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEPagansAndWitches
and create a request post stating your reason for healing energy and/or prayers
sent your way. Prayer requests can be asked for other than healing and for
other than yourself.
A white candle will be lit for you on Sunday unless you request another color
to be used. This is a group event so the more people involved the better. Feel
free to join sending out energy. Always keep in mind that requests are always
done for the highest good of all concerned. This may mean the outcome may be
different than we hope for. The spiritual healing work we do is designed to
work in harmony with other treatment modalities, not as a subsitute.
Repeating event:
2nd Saturday of each month
New Hampshire Seacoast Pagans have their monthly meeting at Karnan House in Portsmouth, from 2:00 to 6:00.
This is an informal gathering for Pagans. Most of us are from the Portsmouth
Seacoast area, but all are welcome. We provide free coffee and tea, and usually
somebody will bring some food. There’s no agenda – just hanging out, networking
and good conversation.

Rather than a poem this week, here are a few thoughts on the difference between religion and spirituality:
Religion highlights differences; spirituality breeds unity.
Immature religion is an angry child wielding a sword; mature spirituality is the ageing grandmother who welcomes children of all descriptions.
Religion commands; spirituality invites
Religion imposes rules and imparts knowledge; spirituality plants wisdom, fertilizes it with experience and waters it with tenderness.
