Today is the 27^th of July, 2008. It’s the 209^th day of the year.

The moon will be void –of – course in just a few minutes … 12:52 am and enters Gemini at 11:55 am.

On this date in 1612, Jennet Preston was tried for Witchcraft and found guilty by Sir James Altham and Sir Edward Bromley in York Assizes in England, in relation to the death of Thomas Lister. Preston was one of twelve who stood trial in what are called the Pendle Witch Trials. Of these twelve, only one was found not-guilty. The rest were hanged.

On Tuesday, the 29^th, the moon will be void-of-course at 11:25 am and enters Cancer at 1:11 pm.

Also, on this day, Agnes Waterhouse was tried and hanged under the witchcraft statute of Elizabeth 1. Her daughter also stood accused and testified against her mother to save her own life. A Microfilm of the original documents recording the trial begins : “The Examination and confession of certaine wytches at Chensforde in the countie of Essex before the Quenes Maiesties judges, the xxvi daye of July, anno 1566, at the assise holden there as then, and one of them put to death for the same offence, as their examination declareth more at large.

Wednesday, the 30^th marks the death of Conrad of Marburg, who was the confessor of Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia, and a papal inquisitor. Being called a Magister, he seems to have finished a course of university studies in Paris or Bologna. Having been given papal authority to deal with heretics as he saw best, he became a harsh and severe inquisitor who was quite feared.

Failing to convict the Count of Sayn of heresy on July 23, 1233, Conrad undertook crusade against heretic nobles. On July30, 1233, He, and his companion, Franciscan Gerhard Lutzelkolb were murdered.

Thursday, the 31^st marks the birth, in 1831 of H.P. Blavatsky, who founded the Theosophical Society. While Blavatsky had little “traditional” education, she came to be one of the best respected occult authors whose works are read by mostly intrepid readers. On Friday, August 1, we’ll have a New Moon at 6:13 am. There will be a total solar eclipse at 6:22 am, which will follow a line from Northern Canada, Northern Greenland, the Arctic, Russia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Friday is also Lammas or Lughnassadh, depending on your tradition, and is also the birthday of Edward Kelly, who was the medium for Dr. John Dee in 1555.

Saturday, August 2 marks the birth of Henry Steele Olcott, who co-founded the Theosophical Society with Madam Blavatsky.

The Full Moon will be at its peak on this night with bright, cleansing, illuminating moonlight surrounding us. A perfect time to open ourselves to her silvery healing energy.

Everyone needs healing - whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. True healing is holistic ... it involves all aspects of who you are.

During this ritual, we will be invoking the Triple Goddess and will be asking for help from the Mother to channel her energy - the energy of the full moon, to pour through us for true healing.

WHITEOAK (Ord na Darach Gile) Lughnasad Druid Conclave East

A primitive camping event (bring your solar shower, water, tent, potluck food, cooler, bug stuff, etc.)

In Western MA. There is a grill for cooking. NO DOGS ALLOWED.

Musical instruments, poetic offerings encouraged. There will be a poetry and a craft competition!

A gathering for members of all Druid Orders and their friends. Formerly known as the "Druid Summit", it is a place in the forest where Druids from all paths come together to share and discuss issues of common relevance.

This year we will feature a bardic competition and a craft competition as well as a ritual in the forest. It is a primitive camping event on the weekend of August 15-17, 2008 in the hills of Western Massachusetts.

The food and drink are potluck, bring your own solar shower (and extra food and water), dried or fresh herbs and flowers (to offer to trees), silver coins (dimes and quarters) (to offer to water) and butter or oil (to offer to fire).

Plan to arrive Friday after 5 PM. Saturday we will do ceremony and Sunday morning we will have a blueberry pancake feast. We ask that you bring the bounty of the season to share with everyone (including pancake mix, blueberries, eggs, milk, bacon, etc. Please bring organic ingredients). Applicants will also be asked for a small donation to cover the rental of sanitary facilities. *Please note* this is not a Pagan gathering or a gathering for the general public. It is for Druids and close friends and family only.

Each meal is a "family style", that is, we all eat together at each meal. Plan to bring enough to feed yourself and several more at each meal (even if you are vegan, for example, you can bring extra veggies!). Some folks are volunteering to bring "extras".

Do you feel a presence in the woods? Do you see signs of mystical beings around you? Perhaps you need a fairy stone to help focus in on the Hidden Ones. Join authors Raven Grimassi & Stephanie Taylor for a workshop to learn about the Fey and to use a traditional fairy sighting stone. The workshop will include a talk about old fairy lore, and how to make and use a fairy stone to call forth fairies as well as how to use it as a “sighting stone” . Also, learn about how the Kindred Race interface with witches to work in common cause for both worlds.
